Surrounded by mountains, such as the imposing Hohe Tauern and an incomparable Alpine panorama, the village is located at an altitude of 750 m directly on the shore of Lake Zell and on the slopes of our local mountain, the Schmittenhöhe. Water sports enthusiasts will get their money’s worth here, as will fans of the mountains. In addition, the town of Zell am See invites you to get to know the diverse range of cultural events, leisure activities and other events for the whole family.
Like under a thick layer of sugar:
Snow-covered Zell am See. Winter idyll in the Europa-Sportregion.
For lovers of nature, those seeking relaxation and athletes.
Skiing and snowboarding fun up to 3000 meters above sea level, ice skating on the lake or in the hall, sleigh rides, cleared winter hiking trails up to 2000 meters, tennis and all wellness pleasures.
130 kilometers of pistes that glitter in the sun, connected by 57 cable cars and lifts:
Are you dreaming of velvety slopes, steep slopes and romantic cross-country ski runs?
Then you are very welcome with us, because on and in the mountains around Lake Zell you will find everything you need for a perfect winter holiday. Great snow, great sports facilities, après-gaudi, a breathtaking panorama of the nearby snow giants and of course the proverbial ‘Austrian hospitality’.
Especially in winter, the local mountain Schmittenhöhe See shows itself from an extremely advantageous side – the snow-white one.
On 75 km of perfectly groomed pistes, “professionals” and amateur athletes can enjoy the white splendor every day.
The nearby Kitzsteinhorn glacier area guarantees skiing fun all year round at 3000 meters with a fun park for snowboarders and freestylers.
Well-trained ski instructors for skiers of all skill levels await you at the ski and snowboard school. Whether in a group or privately, you can learn and improve your technique here.
Enjoy a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through one of the various nature reserves in the region.
The illuminated toboggan run with a length of 1.5 km passes close to our house. At the start of the toboggan run you will find the rustic forest inn “Köhlergraben”, which also invites you to stay longer. The toboggan run is illuminated, so you can toboggan home carefree after dark.
As far as the eye can see, the 40 km of cross-country skiing trails meander through Zell am See-Kaprun and the neighboring communities. On the Schmitten there is a wonderful high-altitude trail around the Plettsaukopf reservoir – with a view of the entire region!
